Sirens of Titan « Bio

Who are the Sirens of Titan?

Sirens of Titan is a Minneapolis-based rock band heavily influenced from early 70's proto-metal (Sabbath, Deep Purple) to more recent doom metal/stoner rock (Kyuss, Cathedral, Sleep). Add to that mix the powerful, melodic vocals of Felicia Mitchell, Sirens of Titan create a sound both soaring and ominous.

"Named after the 1959 novel by Kurt Vonnegut, Sirens of Titan slip a few other science-fiction references onto their self-titled debut album, most notably in the Scientology-tweaking 'Thetan Audit.' But their chief interest isn't sci-fi, but sludgy stoner metal in the vein of Sabbath and the Melvins, with guitarist Sam Rhode, drummer Conan Malady and bassist Matt Duffin brewing up a cauldron of noise that is well matched by vocalist Felicia Mitchell, whose tough-girl roar makes her sound like the kind of woman who might not start a bar fight, but could certainly finish it."

"Metalheads who think Queens of the Stone Age's Josh Homme was much better back when he was still in Kyuss will probably dig Sirens of Titan."
-Ross Raihala, The Pioneer Press

"Very interesting and unique band, who blend Trouble, Soundgarden and King Crimson vibes with soulful female vocals that have been compared to Grace Slick and Anne Wilson. A refreshingly original album and band."
-The End Records

"Just received this yesterday. THANK YOU Felicia! I love it. It has that bombastic sound that sort of reminds me of the Jimi Hendrix line up that featured Jimi, Noel & Mitch. It's got this Wishbone Ash (probably showing my age here), classic doom overtone's too."
-Rick Harper, The Sonic Cathedral

"Minneapolis quartet Sirens of Titan are probably one of the best female-fronted bands I've ever heard. A bluesy sort of sludge rock with the occasional syncopated twist or turn, the sound is groovy indeed, if a little strange. The musicians can clearly play, as the occasional jarring unison passage will remind you, but it's nice to see folks stepping outside of verse-chorus-verse once in a while." «read the rest of the review
